Delete your Simple-Symptoms account

You can delete your Simple-Symptoms account and its encrypted backup at any time, from the app or by email. You don't need the app installed to ask by email.

Option 1: In the app (immediate)

Open Simple-Symptoms and go to the Backup tab.
Tap Delete account, under “Sign out, erase or delete.”
Type DELETE and tap Delete my account. Tick “Also erase my log from this phone” to remove the phone's copy too.

Your account and backup are deleted right away.

Option 2: By email

Email us from the address you signed up with:

deletionrequests@simplesymptoms.app

Use the subject “Delete my account”. We delete the account and backup within 30 days, usually much sooner, and reply to confirm. If you write from a different address, we'll ask you to confirm from the account email first, so nobody else can delete your account.

What gets deleted

Your account and email address
Your encrypted backup and both encrypted copies of your backup key
Your two-step sign-in settings and any pending sign-in codes

Nothing is kept afterward, except that copies in our provider's routine system backups are overwritten within about 7 days. They stay encrypted and unreadable to us the whole time.

Data on your phone

Deleting your account doesn't touch your phone unless you tick the box. To remove the log from your phone at any time, use Backup → Erase my data, or uninstall the app. If you never made an account, your data only ever existed on your phone.
